Welcome to The Edit: Why We Work on What You Can’t See
People seek our services because something needs attention: persistent muscle tension, restricted movement, changes in skin texture, scars, or concerns about body contour. Sometimes they’re already putting effort into improving their health, but their body isn’t responding the way they expected.
These concerns share one thing in common: there is a world beneath the surface, working day and night to support the life they are trying to live.
I’m Stephanie Cunningham, RN, LMT, founder of The Metabolic Spa. My background spans four decades in healthcare, including nursing and massage therapy, and I’m currently pursuing my family nurse practitioner degree. That experience shapes how I approach treatment—with attention to both the concern that brings someone in and the processes beneath it.
I’m also pursuing my own renewal—refining how I move, care for my body, and put what I’m learning into practice.
Why the metabolic lens matters
Metabolism is the work cells do to use energy and maintain function. Within your tissues, cells are continually communicating, responding, and carrying out maintenance and repair. Circulation, fluid movement, muscle activity, and the surrounding tissue environment contribute to that work.
That is the perspective behind The Metabolic Spa. Skin, fascia, muscle, and movement are connected. We consider those relationships when planning therapeutic massage and bodywork, restorative body treatments, and ProCell microchanneling.
Hands-on skill guides our care, with selected technologies incorporated when they serve the treatment plan. We pay attention to how tissue responds and how that response relates to the client’s goals. Our aim is meaningful progress and stronger, more sustainable outcomes.
The work continues between treatments
We design layered approaches around specific targets—whether that means moving more comfortably, improving skin texture, addressing scars, or refining body contour. Skilled bodywork, selected technologies, purposeful products, and practices between visits each have a role in working toward more noticeable, lasting improvements.
This is a collaborative process. We bring professional skill and direction; clients bring their goals, observations, and participation. Together, we assess progress and adjust the plan as the body responds.
The value extends beyond treatment sessions. Understanding how your body responds, what supports its progress, and how to apply that knowledge gives you greater autonomy outside our office. Our goal is for you to leave with improvements you can recognize and practical knowledge you can carry into the rest of your life.
What you’ll find in The Edit
This journal will connect the world beneath the surface to the questions people bring into our practice.
I’ll explain our services, discuss the products we select, and explore the reasoning and evidence behind our recommendations. Expect understandable conversations about cellular health, tissue function, movement, skin, and care between visits.
The purpose is straightforward: to help you understand what we do, why we do it, and how each part of your plan fits together.
